Day 1 - Arrive Shanghai

Day 2 - Shanghai

Day 3 - Suzhou
- The Humble Administrator's Garden 拙政园 (70RMB)
- Suzhou Museum (next door, free admission)

Day 4 - Suzhou to Tongli, an ancient town.

Day 5 - Tongli to Hangzhou
West Lake (Free admission)

Day 6 - Hangzhou

Day 7 - Putuo Mountain (Admission to island- 160 RMB.
Other admissions RMB5 each. Discounts for students).
Meals are expensive here.

Day 8 - Putuo Mountain

Day 9 - Putuo to Shanghai (ferry RMB 20, bus RMB 140)
From Putuo to Shanghai, there is also a night ferry.
Cost about RMB200, with a sleeper. This will save the
hotel cost in Shanghai.

Day 10 - Leave Shanghai

Kunming


Day 1 - Arrive Kunming
Overnight sleeper bus to Xiaguan (New Dali) - 100 RMB

Day 2 - Arrive Xiaguan. Local bus to Old Dali.
See Dali ancient town, boat trip on Er Hai Lake,
see "Foreigner Street".

Day 3 - Dali-Lijiang (bus 65 RMB)
Walk about in the ancient town.
Nightly at the square, there are social dances.
There is an evening cultural show (Impression Lijiang, 190 RMB)

Day 4 - Lijiang
a) Go to Jade Snow Mountain, skip it if you have been to Nepal
or India's mountains. Entrance to Jade Dragon Snow Mountain
¥190 (includes ¥80 Ancient Town preservation fee).
Tickets for the cable car cost ¥170 round-trip.
b) Ride a bicycle to the next ancient town
(Shuhe Village - Admission 50 RMB).

Day 5 - Tiger Leaping Gorge Trekking (2 days) -- You will need to show your ¥80 Ancient Town preservation fee receipt.

Day 6 - Finish Trekking, return to Lijiang

Note: If you don't want to trek, you can visit Tiger Leaping Gorge on a daytrip and spend the extra day in Dali or Lijiang.

Day 7 - Lijiang-Kunming (9 hour bus, 10:30 am)

Day 8 - Kunming - West Hill, Golden Temple

Day 9 - Kunming - Shiling (Stone Forest) - Take a one hour train to go there. Admission 140RMB

Day 10 - Leave Kunming
